Investor in People
The Investors in People Standard provides a framework that helps organisations to improve performance and realise objectives through the effective management and development of their people.
Everyone agrees that people are an organisation's greatest asset, and we all know that for an organisation to succeed everyone has to perform well. To achieve this, people need the right knowledge, skills and motivation to work efficiently.
No matter what the size or type of an organisation, the Investors in People Standard is there to help improve the way an organisation works. All companies, no matter how small or large have to meet the same criteria – or 'indicators' – as other organisations, but the Standard recognises that each organisation will meet them in its own way.
Investors in People recognises that organisations use different means to achieve success through their people. The Standard does not prescribe any one method, but it provides a framework to help you find the most suitable means for achieving success through your people.
Constructionline: A new form of efficiency
Constructionline is the UK's register of pre-qualified local and national construction and construction-related contractors and consultants. Owned and endorsed by the DTI, Constructionline is a contributor to the Rethinking Construction initiative.
We gather and assess pre-qualification information on behalf of public and private sector procurers and provide them with access to over 12,500 fully accredited suppliers. In addition, we also help contractors and consultants by reducing the need for them to fill-in pre-qualification forms for every tender and provide them with access to over 1,500 buyers.
Constructionline is a valuable tool to help you develop an efficient procurement process. The concept of a single national database was initially proposed by the 1994 Latham Report on construction industry modernisation and efficiency, 'Constructing the Team'. Since then Constructionline has grown and been updated to stay relevant to the needs of modern procurement.
Over 12,500 contractors and consultants, ranging from sole traders and small specialist firms to large multi-nationals, are registered with Constructionline. In excess of 1,500 plus buyers across the UK ranging from large central government departments and agencies to Local Authorities, Housing Associations, Universities and NHS Trusts trust the Constructionline register.
