Data and AV at St Michael's Church, Linlithgow

Situated next to Linlithgow Palace is one of the largest churches in Scotland, and one of the most beautiful.

We were tasked with integrating our data and AV installation with a brand new £306,000 lighting system within St Michael’s Church. This installation will allow the mood lighting and presentations to be controlled using wireless access via a hand held device. The new system, which uses low energy LED lighting, is expected to reduce the church’s energy bills and highlight the building’s architectural features. The lights were switched on at a special service at the famous Linlithgow landmark on the evening of 2nd November 2014 after a torch lit procession up the Kirkgate from the Cross.

Future additional AV integration will also allow for the services and ceremonies to be recorded and projected onto large screens, and live monitoring of the events taking place will be made possible. It will then be possible to connect via video chat to those abroad or unable to attend the ceremonies, and a virtual presence will be created. This has already been tried on a few occasions with successful outcomes.

Finally, there will be a camera installed at the top of the spire, which will link to the church's website to display a live 24/7 view of Linlithgow.
