They host an awards evening for all of their apprentices every June, at which 20 awards covering eight subjects are presented to apprentices who have excelled in their discipline. The 350 guests at the 2014 event heard from two north-east businessmen. Bob Steel, managing director of Caledonian Petroleum Services, talked about the importance of business partnerships, while our very own Graeme Duncan spoke about his career path from apprentice electrical engineer to business owner.
Iain Garrett, Managing Director of Tullos Training, said:
“Apprenticeships play an invaluable role in society and it is encouraging to see this being recognised by government and businesses once again. The number of apprentices we are training has increased substantially year-on-year over the last five years, with women making up a greater proportion of our classes than ever before.
“Our annual awards evening is always a great night and is a fantastic way to celebrate the achievement of all the apprentices we train. It helps to encourage each year’s intake to strive to work hard, giving them something to aim for at the end of their course. Both Bob and Graeme gave very insightful talks to the gathered audience this year and certainly gave them plenty of inspiration.”
